Our Story – Passion Meets Purpose
Hi, I’m Sheila Akins, the founder and heart behind Selective Selections By She. For as long as I can remember, entrepreneurship has been part of who I am. Growing up, I watched my mother build her own business with resilience and passion lessons that shaped my path. From selling candy in high school to working as a sales rep for brands like AdvoCare and Dove Chocolates, I always knew I was destined to create something of my own.
During the pandemic, I discovered what that "something" was: candles. I had always loved how candles made me feel. Calm, relaxed, and centered. But once I learned about the hidden toxins in many store bought candles, I knew there had to be a better way. That curiosity led me to buy a candle making kit. One pour turned into a passion. The creativity, fragrance blending, and peacefulness of the process sparked something greater and Selective Selections By She was born.
